Liran Avisar Gazit came to the United States in August to begin her role as the first Shlichat Aliyah for the Reform Movement. She is a staff member of both ARZA and the Aliyah department of the Jewish Agency. Back in Israel, Liran is a lawyer who specializes in public and constitutional law. She received her first degree in law and business management from Tel Aviv University in 2003. Currently she is studying for her Master’s at Tel Aviv University. For the past three years, she worked in the Ministry of Justice as the legal assistant of the attorney general in Israel, Mr Meni Mazuz. Liran served in the Israel Defense Forces for almost 5 years, first as a commander instructing infantry units on missile systems, and then as the commander of the women’s officer course of the IDF.
